Background
Promoting buses as a preferable mode of transport to personal vehicles requires not only an improvement in the quality of service of buses but also in its supporting infrastructure. In this context, the Multi Modal Transit Centers are being upgraded such that they not only provide better passenger amenities but also connect passengers with other modes of transport, thus enabling them to travel faster.

Located on the periphery of Delhi, the MMTCs form major hubs in the public transport system for the metropolis of National Capital Region and the neighbouring states. MMTCs have been conceived to provide seam less connectivity to the public across various modes and geographic regions between the inter-state buses, railway, local buses, Metro, Mono Rail and Light Rail systems.
MMTC at Kashmere Gate
The Maharana Pratap Inter-State Bus Terminal or MMTC at Kashmere Gate is the oldest and the largest in India catering to buses from Delhi and six other states i.e. Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Kashmere Gate is located in North Delhi in the Old Delhi area in close vicinity to the Red Fort and the Old Delhi Railway Station.
MMTC at Sarai Kale Khan
The MMTC at Sarai Kale Khan is another major bus terminus of Delhi city and caters mostly to buses going to Rajasthan, UP, Haryana and few DTC buses. It is also critically located near the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. The ISBT was established in 1996 and has been since running through temporary sheds.
MMTC at Anand Vihar
The MMTC at Anand Vihar extends to an area of 10.2 hectares and faces the NH 56. The Anand Vihar Railway Station is situated to the west of this site. This MMTC was established in 1993 and has been running through temporary sheds.

Also located close to this MMTC is the Metro Station.

DIMTS is the Project Management Consultant for the re-development/development of the Multi Modal Transit Centers. The refurbished multi-modal transit centers will have connectivity to mass transit systems like the Metro, Mono Rail and Light Rail.
