Developing Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda

Project: Preparation of Architectural/Urban Design for Developing Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Baramunda.

Client: Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA)

In smart city proposal, Bhubaneswar has envisaged becoming a city with sustainable mobility choices and afterward the city has taken up various developmental projects to change the city’s futurescape with prioritizing the public transportation over private. Success and efficiency of a good public transportation system also depends upon the infrastructure provided along with it. Baramunda Bus terminal is the biggest bus terminal with an area of 15.5 acre used for both interstate & intercity bus operations. Daily almost 800 (approx.) buses operate from this terminal. The project site is well connected with the city and other surrounding areas through NH-16.

Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has been developed, under Odisha Development Authority (ODA) Act, to prepare broad strategic plans for the city. Recently the State Govt. has given the responsibility of development of the entire big transit infrastructure, i.e. depots and terminals, in the city and has been entrusted for development of ISBT at Baramunda.

Main objective of this project is to achieve following:
  • To develop State of the Art Bus Terminal with all the necessary facilities for the passengers
  • To provide more convenient and easy transfer experience to the passengers by integrating various modes.

Up-gradation/ /Redevelopment of Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Kashmere Gate

Project: Detailed Project Report (DPR) and Supervision for Up-gradation/Renovation of Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Kashmere Gate, Delhi.

Client: Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. /Transport Department, GNCTD.

Delhi and NCR region have been witnessing a major spurt in urbanization since the last few years resulting in an overload on the transport infrastructure. Promoting buses as a preferable mode of transport requires not only an improvement in quality of services of buses but also it needs supporting infrastructure. Thus, Transport Department has been entrusted to renovate / upgrade / redevelop / develop Multi-Modal Transit Hubs which shall provide better passenger amenities, but will connect commuters with other modes of Transport. DIMTS’s was awarded the work to carry out the services required for redevelopment ISBT and Development of Hotel and Passenger Facilities Complex at Kashmere Gate ISBT of Land approx. 5.3 Hectares.

The Maharana Pratap Inter-State Bus terminal at Kashmere gate is the oldest and largest ISBT in India catering public transport (Intercity and Intra-city buses) from and within Delhi to other states including Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh etc.

Salient Features of the project
  • Separate provision for intra-city and intercity bus services has been provided.
  • Integration of ISBT with Metro Station.
  • Pedestrian linkage has been provided
  • The design factors in all necessary basic space requirements, passenger traffic requirements and Engg. Details for various aspects and functions of the ISBT.
  • Provision of escalators and elevators
  • Provision of ventilation and air conditioning of the Terminal

Scope of Work undertaken by DIMTS
  • Conducting Traffic Surveys and Engineering Surveys & Investigations including Geo-tech Investigations, Topographic Surveys
  • Preparation of Concept plan carry out detailed Architectural Planning
  • Detailed Structural Design & Drawings and Detailed Cost Estimate with BOQ
  • Preparation of Detailed Project Report.
  • Preparation of RFQ and RFP
  • Run Bid Process Management for selection of Contractor
  • Project Management and Construction supervision of works, quality checks, billing etc.


Redevelopment of Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Sarai Kale Khan

Project: Redevelopment of ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan Delhi.

Client: Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. /Transport Department, GNCTD.

ISBT at Sarai Kale Khan is located in Zone D, west of Ring Road and East of the existing Nizamuddin Railway Station. The Barapulla Nalah elevated corridor for Common Wealth Games was constructed, which adjoins the ISBT Sarai Kale Khan on its southern side and connects to DND expressway on the eastern side

    • Separate provision for intra-city and intercity bus services has been provided.
    • Integration of the elevated corridor of Barapulla Nalah with ISBT.
    • Pedestrian linkage has been provided through pedestrian plaza which is connecting Bus Terminal (intracity and intercity), Nizamuddin Railway Station and proposed Metro link Station and Ring Road.
    • The design factors in all necessary basic space requirements, passenger traffic requirements and Engg. Details for various aspects and functions of the ISBT.
    • Provision of escalators and elevators.
    • Provision of ventilation and air conditioning of the Terminal.
    • Provision of CCTV, Security Equipment, disaster management and BMS.
    • Provision of bus, car/taxi and two wheeler parking and constructing parking basements.
    • Development of commercial areas within the Termina.

Redevelopment of Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Anand Vihar Delhi

Project: Redevelopment of ISBT at Anand Vihar Delhi.

Client: Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. /Transport Department, GNCTD

The ISBT at Anand Vihar is proposed to be redeveloped so as to provide quality service system for the commuters and integrate it with the city bus service terminal, Anand Vihar metro station and Anand Vihar Railway Station. The total area available is 9.2 hectares. It has a frontage of about 500m along the main Ghazipur road. Main entry to ISBT is from Road No. NH-56. The present ISBT is functional in the name of Vivekanand Inter State Bus Terminal, Anand Vihar, East Delhi

  • Pedestrian linkage has been provided through pedestrian plaza which is connecting Bus Terminal (intra-city and intercity), Anand Vihar Railway Station and Delhi Metro and proposed RRTS Station.
