- Project conceptualisation and structuring
- Technology evaluation for various project components: vehicle tracking, CCTV system, backend systems, control centres
- Preparing technical specifications for tracking devices, CCTV system, backend systems, control centres
- Preparing Detailed Project Report
- Developing tender documents and managing the tendering process for specific components
Background:
The National Level Vehicle Security and Tracking System is being implemented by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India with the following objectives:
- It should enable providing safe and secure public road transport to passengers, particularly women and girl child, in public transport vehicles of the country.
- It should act as a deterrent and lead to reduction in crime against passengers, particularly, women and girl child, using public road transport vehicles in the country.
- It should support faster response time in attending to distress calls
- It should support authorities during crime investigation
- It should lead to effective enforcement and improved safety environment in public road transport
The project has the following components:
- A National Backend Data Centre
- City Command and Control Centre in each of the identified cities in India having population of more than one million in the initial phase.
- Installation of GPS device, Emergency Buttons and CCTV system (CCTV required only for medium and heavy passenger motor vehicles) in specified public transport vehicles in the above cities
- The project would initially cover about 3 Mn public transport vehicles in India.
