Corridors: Panipat- Delhi (110 km), Meerut- Delhi (90 km).

Scope of work: Feasibility Study, Detailed Project Report and Bid Process Management These activities included:
  • Estimation of base year ridership and travel demand forecast based on different conditions including no-built conditions.
  • Study of suggested stations for traffic integration of RRTS, metro, bus, intermediate public transport and cycles as feeders.
  • Identification of appropriate and convenient passenger terminal(s) in Delhi
  • Discussion with stakeholders
  • Civil engineering including alignment design, station locations, conceptual station planning.
  • Preparation of station yard plans and changes, if any in the existing layouts
  • Geo-technical investigations (on an average one bore for every 500 m)
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Social impact assessment
  • Resettlement and rehabilitation plan
  • Preparation of abstract cost estimates based on the rates of ongoing works in the area, including cost of land acquisition and R&R, etc.
  • Estimation of operation and maintenance cost
  • Financial viability analysis including development of financial model and explore options of PPP model


RRTS will be a rail based system that will connect small but fast developing towns in the NCR region. The goal of RRTS is to reduce the dependence of commuters on road based transportation to a combination of road-cum rail transportation system.
